2014 Dec Hols HW

Physics

1) 2014 Promotional Exam Corrections => Re-attempt the Promotional Exam paper and review

a. Do the paper in the same time given in the actual exam
b. Mark the script and take note of the things that you are still unclear about
c. Do your corrections in a different colour to differentiate your learning points for future reference
d. Video solutions for all questions will be prepared to support you going through Promo corrections

2) Tutorials => Complete every single tutorial qn from chapters learnt in 2014 with reasoning

a. Include restating and summary of explicit data => e.g. Given values such as velocity and acceleration
b. Include reasoning and logical deduction of implicit information. Information that needs to be derived from information already given => e.g. constant velocity --> no net acceleration --> no net force --> forward force must be equal to friction

3) Practice Test Papers (video solutions for Section B of all 3 papers will be uploaded)

a. 2012 CJC H2 Promo Paper (if not done yet)
b. 2013 CJC H2 Promo Paper (if not done yet)
c. 2011 CJC H2 Promo Paper
d. 2012 other JCs Prelim Papers, arranged by Topics => training you to answer Level 3 qns

- Attempt the Level 3 qns in the Prelim Papers only after you have completed 1-3c.
- If you encounter topics that have not been covered yet that have been combined with a topic you already know, skip the question.

4) All Materials will be uploaded on COL@C.

5) Summary Notes for each Chapter

a. You can choose your method of summary => i.e. mind-maps or condensed notes
b. Helps you recap your own knowledge => a lot of JC2 work needs JC1 knowledge to build upon

6) All work to be completed and filed. Files to be handed in on the first Monday of 2015.

Note: If you have not completed your work, you will need to write a letter to Subject Tutor to explain why, along with an endorsement by your parents.

A suggested timeline for completing the work has been included in the document '2014 December Holiday Homework Instructions' on COL@C. A revision log (where there is also a suggested date of completion for each HW and where you indicate completion of revision for each chapter) has been shared in the Google Spreadsheet.

Chemistry

1) Group II E-learning

a. Lecture Notes & Tutorial Qns => to be downloaded from COL@C or bought from printing shop
b. Complete the E-learning module & attempt the Group II tutorial qns before school re-opens

d. Tutorial solutions will be up on COL@C on 28 Dec 2014 for self-checking of tutorial answers before Group II tutorial in T1W1 in 2015

2) JC1 Year-end Holiday Assignment Package (download from COL@C or buy from printing shop)

a. Compilation of 2013 Promo Qns from selected colleges
b. Refer to the detailed instructions in revision package for tips on how to use this package

3) 1st CA in JC2

a. Rationale: To help you assess your readiness for JC2 Chem content
b. Topics assessed: JC1 topics & Group II
c. Duration: 45 min (DURING 1st Tutorial Lesson in Term 1 2015)
d. Most questions in this CA will be modified from Year-End Holiday Assignment Package, hence it is advisable for you to work through qns in this package

A recommended revision schedule by your H2 Chem tutors have been included in the blue piece of paper (with the Chem HW) given to you.

Maths

1) Refer to the yellow piece of paper titled 'JC1 H2 Maths Nov/Dec Holiday Homework' for the list of qns that you need to attempt from 'H2 Maths Topical Revision: GCE 'A' Level Qns prior to 2007'

a. After solving these qns, you must self-mark by referring to solutions uploaded on COL@C.
b. You must submit your solutions and necessary corrections to your tutor when school reopens on Mon 5th Jan 2015.
c. You are strongly encouraged to attempt more qns than those stated to further hone your skills and concepts in problem solving.

Geog

1) Complete remaining Litho summary tables

2) Compile case studies from Human Geog readings (*Important*)

3) For those who got below 7m for 16m essay, redo.
